Exosens Scientific USA, Inc. specializes in the design, development and manufacturing of leading-edge detectors and electro-optics for the transport and identification of Ions, Electrons, UV Photons and Soft X-Rays. Our high-tech products are used by most analytical instrument manufacturers to bring added value and reliability to their specialized instrumentation such as Mass Spectrometry applications. To expand our mission, we are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Quality Engineer to support and enhance our Quality Management System in an ISO 9001-certified environment. This role is responsible for ensuring product and process quality across the lifecycle of precision electro-optic components and assemblies used in scientific and industrial applications. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to drive continuous improvement and maintain high standards of quality and compliance. This position reports to the Director of Quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve processes in compliance with ISO 9001 standards
- Support internal and external audits, including certification and surveillance audits
- Perform internal audits, Gemba walks and attend continual improvement meetings as required
- Prepare/revise documentation to support continual improvement initiatives which include, but may not be limited to:
- Business Policies, Manufacturing, Test and Packaging Procedures, Forms Travelers, Quality/Acceptance Criteria, Flowcharts, etc.
- Apply knowledge and experience to create clear, user-friendly documentation that a diverse audience can understand.
- Propose improvement opportunities to mitigate risks and opportunities for mistakes.
- Challenge traditional protocols for documented information to improve user experience
- Business Policies, Manufacturing, Test and Packaging Procedures, Forms Travelers, Quality/Acceptance Criteria, Flowcharts, etc.
- Interface at multiple levels within the engineering, manufacturing, and quality organizations to understand key requirements for the assembly, test, and application of products. Key requirements may include internal and customer expectations.
- Lead and participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations
- Use structured problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA)
- Implement and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Ensure effectiveness of corrective actions through data analysis
- Prepare reports and communicate findings to internal teams and customers
- Supplier Quality
- Evaluate and qualify suppliers of fiber optic materials and components
- Work with suppliers and internal resources to resolve supplier corrective actions (SCARs) and incoming inspection processes.
Competencies:
- Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is required, preferably in a quality position
- Ability to translate technical content for non-technical audiences.
- Experience with process or quality auditing
- Process-minded, detail-oriented, risk reducer (quality + CI mindset)
- Customer focus is a must
- Attention to detail and data-driven decision making
- Ability to work cross-functionally
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to lead meetings and keep resources focused on the task at hand
- Individuals must be goal oriented and focused on deliverables
Education and Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or similar). In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, candidates with demonstrated experience will be considered.
- ASQ CQE or similar certification
- 5+ years of experience in a quality engineering role in manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and audit processes
- Experience with root cause analysis and quality tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
