TAILOR DESIGN

El-Mul’s continuously growing IP portfolio serves as a basis for its unique business proposition. For every OEM tool or instrument we consider its specific requirements. We come to the drawing board with the unique operating conditions, available footprint, performance requirements and interfaces that our customer provides and convert a set of specifications into a fully designed and operational sub-system.

A tailor-design development project will progress from product definition, through conceptual design to detailed design. Our customers enjoy a transparent, collaborative process, with predetermined design reviews and a lot of informal interaction. In many ways El-Mul’s team works as an extension of its customer’s team. Once the customer approves the design, prototypes are manufactured, qualified in El-Mul’s laboratory and forwarded for installation and evaluation on the customer’s site.

► Modeling

Reaching an optimized design while minimizing the design cycle (time to market) requires the use of advanced modeling capabilities. At El-Mul, we have developed extensive proprietary modeling methodologies:

  • 3D simulations of the magnetic and electric fields of complex structures (instrument, detection system and neighboring components)
  • Effect of EM fields on charged particle trajectories
  • Simulations of electron/ion-slowing processes with generation of secondary and back-scattered electrons/ions
  • Optimization of detection efficiency for various detector configurations
  • Overcoming high voltage holding constraints at critical points
  • Maximizing light transport from scintillators through light-guides to photon detectors
  • The modeling results in a robust and reliable concept which becomes the basis for the actual design.

► Component Selection And Development

As a developer and integrator of novel solutions El-Mul is always up to date with emerging components and technologies that could be utilized in such solutions. We actively work with components vendors to modify and optimize components in a way that will bring El-Mul’s detectors to new levels of performance.

► Mechanical Engineering

El-Mul’s team of mechanical engineers brings with it many years of experience. From miniature subsystems to large vacuum chambers, our expertise covers aspects of vacuum holding, high voltage holding, optical components, mechanical and electrical interfaces and integration of components, modules and full systems.

► Electronics Engineering

El-Mul designs the electronics necessary for operating our detectors. These include active and passive voltage dividers, in-vacuum pre-amplifiers and air-amplifiers. El-Mul’s electronics design consistently meets the challenges of wide dynamic range, low noise and high bandwidth. Our electronics design is inter-twined and complements our mechanical design.

El-Mul’s system design includes all aspects of detection systems. We see ourselves as an extension of our customers’ design team, ensuring our product’s smooth integration into our customer’s instrument.
