Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading and executing the human resources strategy and operations for a multi-division advanced technology manufacturing organization.
Serving as a strategic business partner to leadership, this role oversees all core HR functions across multiple business units, including life science, scientific, night vision and defense technologies, and advanced imaging operations.
Operating within a shared services model, the Director of Human Resources provides leadership and support in employee relations, talent acquisition, organizational development, compensation, compliance, payroll administration, performance management, and workforce planning.
The ideal candidate brings strong business and financial acumen, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to support diverse operational groups with varying workforce needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead all Human Resources functions across multiple divisions and business units
• Serve as a strategic advisor and business partner to executive leadership
• Manage and support payroll operations using ADP and Paychex platforms
• Benefit plan management including 401k administration
• Develop HR policies and ensure regulatory compliance
• Oversee employee relations, investigations, and performance management
• Support workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development
• Lead recruiting and onboarding for technical and manufacturing roles
• Drive employee engagement & retention initiatives, employee service awards
• Maintain HRIS systems and employee data integrity
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Engineering
• Training Grant application and reimbursement processing
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
• 5–7 years of progressive Human Resources experience
• Experience supporting manufacturing or technical organizations
• Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices
• Experience with HRIS systems, ADP, and Paychex
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, strong business acumen
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in defense, scientific, optics, or advanced manufacturing industries
• Multi-site or multi-division HR leadership experience
• Experience within a shared services HR structure
• Professional HR certification preferred
• Global experience
