Resistive Glass Products

Photonis Resistive Glass technology creates uniform electric fields that direct or guide charged particles within a rigid glass structure. Our patented process creates an integral semi-conductive layer which can be manufactured to preferentially attract either positive or negative ions for use in a variety of analytical instruments. With Photonis’ Resistive Glass technology, you’ll be the first to identify every molecule. Ideal for use in:

  • TOF MS
  • Atmospheric Pressure Ionization
  • Ion Mobility Spectroscopy

Description

Increase ion throughput to 1000X for superior analysis

Photonis' resistive glass technology, uses a uniform electric field to guide or direct charged particles more efficiently into the instrument.

These tubes, made from proprietary resistive glass, are able to significantly increase ion throughput when compared to traditional quartz tubes. When a voltage is applied across the inlet tube, an electric field is generated that preferentially attracts and forces more ions into the mass spectrometer. The Resistive Glass also prevents collisions with other ions and tube walls which may result in ion loss.

Photonis’ capillary inlet tubes are available in single and multi-capillary models. Switching to our tubes may increase ion transfer efficiency by a factor of 100x for a single-capillary tube and up to 1000x for a multi-capillary tube. All of our capillary inlet tubes are available in standard inner diameter and outer diameter sizes or can be customized to fit seamlessly into your instrument.  Capillary inlet tubes are used in the front of a mass spectrometer to collect the ions and guide them into the instrument. By using a capillary inlet tube made of resistive glass, you are ensuring that more ions are entering into the instrument, therefore ensuring a more accurate analysis. An increase in ion transfer efficiency by a factor of 100x has been achieved using Photonis’ capillary inlet tubes.
